O beautiful, to make escape And leave this world behind. Had I to stay another day I'd lose my fucking mind!

About This Quote

I have a lot of things to say about this quote. First, it is a prime example of a rhyme. The rhyming scheme is based on the repetition of “o” in the first line and “beautiful” in the second, which is repeated in the third line. This scheme creates a sort of stanza that mirrors the rhyme scheme from Shakespeare that I presented earlier. The second thing about this quote that makes me chuckle is how close it comes to a certain lyric from a song by a band called A Day To Remember: O beautiful, to make escape And leave this world behind Had I to stay another day I'd lose my fucking mind! The lines are almost identical.

It’s not quite the same but I find it funny anyway. However, my favorite part of this quote is how it ranks alongside the previous three quotes in my collection. In all three cases, there is a theme of rising from defeat or oppression.

In fact, one could argue that all three of these quotes are about rising from defeat!  The great thing about all three is they acknowledge and encourage failure and even depression in order for you to get up and try again and try harder than ever before. As we can see in this collection of quotes, failure can be distinguished from depression in several different ways. However, if we look at the definition of depression, we find that it is defined as: “a depressed mood accompanied by low self-esteem and an inability to experience pleasure” (Dictionary.com). That means that depression is characterized by low self-esteem and an inability to experience pleasure.

If we examine these characteristics in relation to these quotes, we see that most of them do not describe depression but rather describe failing and even rejecting approaches (in some cases) to life and living life to its fullest potential! For this reason, I choose to classify all three quotes together as ways you can rise from depression rather than fail or reject yourself out of depression! I hope you enjoyed reading my collection of quotes with either quotes about failure or quotes about rise from depression (or both). Please tell me what you think!
